WHEELING — An investigator in the alleged sexual assault of a Wheeling woman is confident evidence in the case will result in the indictment of the four suspects accused.
Three local men and one Cleveland resident are accused in the September 2007 sexual assault of a Wheeling woman in a Dallas Pike hotel room. The allegations made by the 19-year-old alleged victim have been filed against Wheeling residents Dondie Williams, 28, and James Harris, 32. The woman also accused Johnny Ray Boykin, 26, of Bridgeport, and Cleveland resident Odell Morgan, 34.
The cases against the men will be presented in May to an Ohio County grand jury. The sexual assault suspects were arrested and arraigned in December. They were released after posting $50,000 bond on the second-degree felony charges.
The case was investigated by the Wheeling Detachment of the West Virginia State Police. Sgt. Scott Adams said the alleged victim and two of her friends went to the Days Inn with the four men.
Adams said he hoped the case would be presented to the last Ohio County grand jury, but that was not possible because investigators were awaiting evidence. The sergeant said that evidence is back, and he believes there is a strong case against the suspects.
“I’m very confident,” Adams said today. “I think the evidence we have is well preserved, and it will support our case greatly. I’m confident they they will be indicted when it goes to the grand jury.”
