Dirt Bike Rider Killed in Collision on Ohio 800

SOMERTON — A Barnesville-area man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Ohio 800 in Somerton just before 9 p.m. Thursday.
According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ronnie Steele, 37, of 58061 Somerton Highway, wsa driving a Honda CR 125 dirt bike north on Ohio 800 without its headlight on. He was not wearing a helmet.
A PT cruiser driven by Raymond Brado, 28, of 64121 Glencoe Road, St. Clairsville, was southbound and attempting to turn left into a private drive.
The dirt bike then struck the PT Cruiser, according to the release, and Steele was ejected from the vehicle. Brado did not report any injuries and was wearing a safety belt. A juvenile in the Brado vehicle was transported to Barnesvlle Hospital by the Somerton Volunteer Fire Dept.’s emergency squad, for non-incapacitating injuries.
The Somerton VFD was on the scene. Steele was flown by MediVac to Presbyterian Hospitql in Pittsburgh.
He was later pronounced dead by the coroner. According to the information from the patrol, Steele’s blood alcohol results were reported to be .15. The legal limit in Ohio is .08.
The crash remains under investigation.
