LUFFT, John C., 69, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at home.
He was born May 17, 1939 in Wheeling, a son of the late John G. and Frances E. Zelewicz Lufft.
He was a retired Operations Leader for AEP, Mitchell Plant; a member of the PAP Club; Benwood Legion; and a Catholic by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard D. Lufft.
Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Sally Nickerson Lufft; four children, Janet (Jim) Kirchner, Tammy (Bill) Gooch, Mike (Tina) Lufft and Jay (Charlene) Lufft, all of Wheeling; a sister, Darla Tridigo and her husband, Mike, of Wheeling; two brothers, Robert P. Lufft and his wife, Mary, of Wheeling and Thomas A. Lufft and his wife, Lisa, of Independence, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Dorcas Lufft of Wheeling; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and best friend, Richard Battista of Wheeling.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Wheeling Chapel, 3828 Jacob Street, Wheeling, where Vigil services will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a..m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen, W.Va., with the Rev. Joseph Hayden as celebrant.
Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
