Body Found In Ohio River
WINDSOR HEIGHTS - A body was found late Wednesday in the Ohio River, but Brooke County investigators have released few details in the early stages of the investigation.
According to information provided by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department, Brooke County 911 received a call at about 10 p.m. Wednesday from boaters who found the remains floating near the mouth of Short Creek.
The Windsor Heights Volunteer Fire Department and Brooke County deputies responded to the scene and worked to remove the body. The unidentified remains were sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office. A Brooke County Sheriff's news release did not indicate whether the body was that of a man or a woman.
The discovery of the body is "suspicious," according to the sheriff's release. The recovery marks the fourth body found in the Ohio River in just the past few months, according to reports. Several calls made today to the Brooke County Sheriff's Department were not returned.
