Arrangements are being made to bring accused murderer James Lohr Jr., 40, of Triadelphia back to West Virginia following his arrest Wednesday in Shelby County, Ohio.

He was taken into custody on the strength of a warrant charging him in the death of his father, James Lohr, 80, whose body was found in the Ohio River near Brooke County last week.

West Virginia State Police had issued a warrant for Lohr Jr., charging him with homicide, according to Shelby County officials.

Lohr Jr. and his wife were located about 5 a.m. Wednesday in a van parked in a weeded area at a tire repair business on Ohio 119 in Shelby County. Shelby County Sheriff Doug Schlagetter said his department had received an alert to be on the lookout for Lohr, who apparently had made cell phone calls that were traced to a tower in Shelby County.

The sheriff said his deputies conducted patrols in an area along Interstate 75 near the county line where the phone calls were reported.

The arrest was made after a deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle and called for backup. The arrest was completed without incident, officials reported.

Deputies said Lohr Jr. complained of chest pains upon his arrest and was taken to a local hospital. He was then released into the custody of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department and lodged in the county jail. According to the sheriff's department, Lohr Jr.'s wife was released without any charges at the request of the West Virginia State Police.

Lohr Jr. appeared in Sidney Municipal Court at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday where he waived extradition to West Virginia.

The West Virginia State Police and Brooke County Sheriff's Department said the body of the victim was found bound and wrapped in a motorcycle or grill cover. A cinder block was attached to his foot.

The body was found by boaters who were fishing on the river June 16.

Authorities found one of Lohr's pickup trucks, a 1995 Chevrolet S-10, in a salvage yard in West Alexander, Pa., on Monday.

When a person like this takes a member of his or her immediate family, they should receive the death penalty; but make that death penalty the same type that they used to take the Victum's life. In this case...an eye for an eye; and a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life.
