Canoeists watch the Adirondack Scenic Railroad train arrive at
a platform above
whitewater on the Moose River outside Old Forge, N.Y. After a couple of hours of paddling, the paddlers would emerge from a stretch of
whitewater several miles downstream and carry their boats up a steep trail to wait on a wooden platform for the train to return and carry them back upriver.
