Ohio Buckeye Not Being Threatened
The IntelligencerGlobal warming hysteria really has reached an incredible level. Now, Ohioans are being told they need to write to their members of Congress and demand action because global warming allegedly threatens the state tree.
An organization called Save the Buckeye is using a Web site and a petition drive to demand action against global warming because, in its own words, "global warming is pushing the growing range for the buckeye and other trees north, and, left unchecked, will make the buckeye rare in our state and common in Michigan and other Upper Midwest states."
Apparently the thought that Ohio may have to share buckeye trees with Michigan is intolerable to some.
In fact, Aesculus glabra, the Ohio buckeye, has a large growing range. It exists in climates as warm as southern Texas, not far from the Mexican border. It is highly unlikely that global warming would exterminate it in Ohio.
The Save the Buckeye campaign is just one more example of extremism practiced by radical environmentalists. This one, we think, will backfire simply because it is so absurd.

As usual the ignorance here is well, simply put. SCARY By no means do i suggest the buckeye is disapearing, i find that complaint to be hilarious, and a good example of an enviormental nut job. But the people on here, who routinely, claim the earth is not warming. You, you scare me. Anyone who is that ignorant, that scared of the truth, that willing to bury your head in the sand. I feel bad for you, but most of all, i fear your stupidity. The earth is warming, ICE is melting. These are known FACTS. The question, and the debate, the debate that the educated are dealing with is why the earth is warming. Not whether it is, or isnt. It is known for a FACT. That is it warming, that ice is melting, and that the sea levels are rising. Once again. The debate is WHY. So if you are going to pick a side, at least know what your side is fighting about. Ignorance is bliss, and my guess is this valley is a very happy place.

TheRev, what caused The Ice Age(s)? What ENDED The Ice Age(s)? What is the difference in temperature that causes ice, slush or water? What does ice do but freeze and melt? If The Ice Age(s) ended with a TINY fraction of the human footprint we have now, then Global Warming and Global Cooling are cyclical. Jut hold on to your union drawers, you WILL need them again SOON!

yeah well i can s h i t in one hand and wish in the other. global warming is not a hoax. the ice around the world is melting. what is debatable is why. weather it is an increase in solar out put or a result of mankinds working is up in the air. sea levels are rising and if the current rate is sustainedlots of land will disappear. by the way a buckeye is a worthless nut

BRanch, I saw the same report, so there must be some validity to it. Do you remember Bill Walton (UCLA basketball)? Look at all the health problems he had that were directly attributable to not getting enough protein and calcium in his diet during his Vegan Period.
