Ex-Teacher Gets Home Detention

By JASON PYLES
POSTED: November 4, 2008

WHEELING - Jaclyn A. Fedak, a former Brooke County school teacher, was sentenced Monday to three years of supervised release for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute oxycodone.

Fedak, 30, of Wellsburg appeared before U.S. District Judge Frederick Stamp Jr., who ordered that she serve the first six months of her probation on home detention with electronic monitoring. Stamp noted that during the initial 180 days of her supervised release, Fedak could only leave her residence during authorized times approved by her probation officer.

According to court documents, Fedak and her co-conspirator, Donald A. Alexander, both pleaded guilty to the offense on Sept. 8. Alexander, 26, of Wellsburg, conspired with Fedak to break into Traubert's Pharmacy, located at 800 Charles St. in Wellsburg.

On Jan. 14, Alexander contacted Fedak - who is identified as "Jacqueline Gillespie-Fedak"in some court records - and asked her to drive him to the pharmacy and serve as his "lookout," using text-messaging to communicate. Having worked an internship for the pharmacy, according to court documents, Alexander used his familiarity with the drug store's alarm system and location of the narcotics to break in and steal the entire supply of oxycodone.

After stealing the drug, Alexander and Fedak met back at her house, where the two had an arrangement for distributing the drug.

Prior to her sentencing, Fedak said, "I'd like to apologize to my family and loved ones for putting them through this, and I can assure the court that this is not something I will ever, ever do again."

After imposing the sentence, Stamp said, "I know you know this, but the penalty for violating probation is not more probation - it's something more serious."

Alexander is scheduled to be sentenced at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

She was my Algebra teacher. She didn't teach at Brooke at the time. She moved to Hancock after the parking lot incident. The police arrested her in the middle of our class.

She most likely rolled over on her partner & got a sweetheart deal as a reward, as that is how they do it any more.

Become a Judas & you walk.

Seems to me she has " connections " since a felony usually lands one in jail or prison during election years, but somehow she managed to get a sweetheart deal by being confined to home & evade other felony charges anyone else would have faced.

Little-How right you are. Home confinement, with no jail time. Guess it pays to belong to a teacher's union.

If I am thinking right, I heard she went from Brooke County up to Hancock County to teach after the incident in the parking lot....she might have even been teaching when this all went down.

Wonder why this articla title reads "Ex-Teacher"? If she had been a coal miner, would it have read "Ex-Coal Miner"? Maybe Jason Pyles will respond to this question.

Wunduring you are so right. This young lady has a very bad problam. She should have gone to prison instead of home arrest. I know these families and can tell you that these two are at the bottom of the food chain.

Wow ! Talk about a sweetheart deal of the century for her.

Conspiracy to disribute narcartics, conspiracy for Breaking & Entering, & several other charges they should have hit her with, & all she gets is to stay in her home.

Had she been a man, her little tail would have landed in prison, which is where she belongs right along side of her friend.

Wasn't this the same teacher that was beat up in the parking lot of Brooke High School a couple of years ago because of some botched drug deal gone bad between her husband and a couple of people?
