WHEELING - Jaclyn A. Fedak, a former Brooke County school teacher, was sentenced Monday to three years of supervised release for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute oxycodone.

Fedak, 30, of Wellsburg appeared before U.S. District Judge Frederick Stamp Jr., who ordered that she serve the first six months of her probation on home detention with electronic monitoring. Stamp noted that during the initial 180 days of her supervised release, Fedak could only leave her residence during authorized times approved by her probation officer.

According to court documents, Fedak and her co-conspirator, Donald A. Alexander, both pleaded guilty to the offense on Sept. 8. Alexander, 26, of Wellsburg, conspired with Fedak to break into Traubert's Pharmacy, located at 800 Charles St. in Wellsburg.

On Jan. 14, Alexander contacted Fedak - who is identified as "Jacqueline Gillespie-Fedak"in some court records - and asked her to drive him to the pharmacy and serve as his "lookout," using text-messaging to communicate. Having worked an internship for the pharmacy, according to court documents, Alexander used his familiarity with the drug store's alarm system and location of the narcotics to break in and steal the entire supply of oxycodone.

After stealing the drug, Alexander and Fedak met back at her house, where the two had an arrangement for distributing the drug.

Prior to her sentencing, Fedak said, "I'd like to apologize to my family and loved ones for putting them through this, and I can assure the court that this is not something I will ever, ever do again."

After imposing the sentence, Stamp said, "I know you know this, but the penalty for violating probation is not more probation - it's something more serious."

Alexander is scheduled to be sentenced at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
