DiCARLO, Joseph Galdo, Sr., 55, of Wintersville, Ohio, died Sunday, November 16, 2008, in Valley Hospice North.
He was born February 19, 1953 in Steubenville, the son of the late Galdo and Carmalina Santarelli DiCarlo.
Joseph was a graduate of Catholic Central High School Class of 1971; Manlius Pebble Hill Prep School, N.Y. in 1972; and Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind. in 1976, with a BA in Business Administration; and he played defensive tackle for the Purdue Boilermakers from 1972-1976.
Joseph was a fitness trainer; a member of the Steubenville Masonic Lodge, Pilgrim Lodge 691; Valley of Steubenville AASR; the Steubenville Shriners; Aladdin Shrine Club, Columbus, Ohio; Order of the Eastern Star; Labell Chapter No. 414; and a member and past president of the Steubenville Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Debra Ortman DiCarlo, whom he married December 29, 1977; one son, Joseph Galdo DiCarlo, Jr. of Wintersville; one daughter, Alexis DiCarlo of Wintersville; and four sisters, Rita DiCarlo of Steubenville, Caroline (Albert) Magnone of Weirton, Anna DiCarlo of Steubenville and Toni DiCarlo of Wheeling.
Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.
A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Fr. George Yontz as celebrant.
There will be a Masonic service Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:45 p.m.
Burial will be private.
