Paul W. Donahie

DONAHIE, Paul W., 74, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.

He was born November 7, 1934 in Wheeling, the son of the late John and Virginia Michel Donahie.

Mr. Donahie was the retired President and CEO of Wheeling National Bank and American Bancorp. He was a former board member of the WV Banking Commission; and a past member of the Foundations of West Liberty and WVNCC. He was a past member and Treasurer of the OVAC; a member of the Polish Open Golf Club; the Wheeling Country Club; a U.S. Army veteran; and a member of the U.S. Army Championship Basketball Team.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church; was a graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School and West Liberty State College.

Mr. Donahie was a loving husband, patient father and faithful friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Virginia Woods.

Surviving are his devoted wife, Donna J. Donahie; a son, Paul M. (Elizabeth) Donahie; two daughters, Michele (Stephen) Murphy and Brigitte (Michael) Mazure; three brothers, John Donahie of Columbus, Ohio, Terry (Margaret) Donahie of Wheeling and Michael (Barbara) Donahie of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Marguerite Donahie of Wheeling and six grandchildren, Paul-Michel Donahie, Sean, Danielle and Troy Murphy; Vance and Luke Mazure.

Friends received noon-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant.

Interment at the convenience of the family.
