Though spring hasn't officially arrived, residents can get a head start on their home improvement shopping.
The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce presents the 40th Annual Home & garden Show 4-8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at WesBanco Arena.
"If you're looking to do anything on your home this year, this is the right event," said chamber President Terry Sterling.
At DeNoon Lumber’s newly remodeled showroom in Bergholz, discussing the upcoming Wheeling Area Home and Garden Show are, from left front, Stefanie Panas, vice president of marketing and communications for the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, and Clay Croskey from DeNoon Lumber; back row, Terry Sterling, president of the chamber and Jamie Carpenter, DeNoon Lumber.
Local businesses and crafters will be joined by vendors from cities like Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Virginia Beach. Sterling said 8,000-12,000 people usually visit the free event, and weather is not expected to negatively impact attendance.
"Of the 120 vendors, I'd say 75 to 80 percent are repeats," Sterling said, adding that this turnover rate keeps a healthy balance between familiar names and new products.
Ron Zandron, sales manager at Johnson Boiler, said the Home & Garden Show gives businesses and crafters the opportunity to promote their products and services.
"It's something for the community to do and a chance to see heating and cooling products as well as other home improvement products," Zandron said.
Show sponsor DeNoon Lumber has participated in the event for several years because the show benefits the Wheeling area and the business.
"The Wheeling market has been very important to DeNoon," said Clay Croskey of DeNoon Lumber. "We've seen business growth every year due to involvement with the Home & Garden Show."
In addition to home and garden products and crafts, the show will have a raffle for two official game balls from the latest Super Bowl. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased at any time at the show.
The winners will be announced at 3 p.m. Sunday and do not have to be present to win. Proceeds will benefit the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce.
A chamber Business After Hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday at WesBanco Arena.
