WHEELING - P.J. Ratcliffe struck out 11 and singled, triple, and drove in a run, as Wheeling Central downed River, 9-1, during OVAC Class AA quarterfinal baseball action Thursday at the J.B. Chambers I-470 baseball field.

Joey Baker singled and added three RBI for the Maroon Knights.

Dan Starr suffered the loss despite pitching into the seventh and striking out nine.

Fort Frye 10, Shadyside 0

NEW MATAMORAS - Fort Frye finished what it started Wednesday when the rains came by polishing off a victory against Shadyside on Thursday.

Josiah Fryman struck out seven in a one-hit shutout and Chad Stengel had two hits and drove in four for the Cadets (10-2).

Steubenville Catholic 11

Frontier 1

STEUBENVILLE - Joe Bahen singled, homered, and drove in two runs, as Steubenville Catholic routed Frontier.

Toby Longo, Matt Robinson, Mickey Bednar, Jordan Teramana, Sean Harlan and Ryan Ditmar all drove in a run for the Crusaders (10-1).

Brett King singled twice for the Cougars (4-7).

Union Local 11

Tyler Consolidated 1

BELMONT - Union Local's Andrew Barbina limited Tyler Consolidated to two hits and faced only 17 batters in a dominant performance.

Tyler Graham drove in three and Michael Micelli doubled and added two RBI for the Jets (8-3).

Zach Perkey doubled and drove in a run for the Silver Knights.

Martins Ferry 10, Bellaire 0

WEST LIBERTY - Nick Menough struck out 11 and worked around four hits, leading Martins Ferry past Bellaire.

Dane Koch had three hits and three RBI and Clay Francis had three hits and two RBI to lead a 14-hit Purple Riders attack. Michael Roach also drove in two.

Paden City 2, Valley 0

PADEN CITY - Josh Bennett struck out 12, scattered four hits, while Wes Cosper and Keith Kline each drove in runs, as Paden City (14-3) slipped past Valley.

Cody Scott singled twice for the Lumberjacks (5-8).

Madonna 10, Bridgeport 0

WEIRTON - Winning pitcher Max Nogay (seven strikeouts) ripped a pair of extra-base hits and drove in three, leading Weirton Madonna (11-2) past Bridgeport (4-7).

Logan Linder doubled and drove in two.

Parkersburg South 10

Edison 7

RICHMOND - Ryan Helmic had four singles and drove in two runs, as Parkersburg South (12-10) defeated Edison (8-6). Shawn Brand singled twice and drove in three runs.

T.J. Mack doubled, singled, and drove in two for the Wildcats.

Brooke 5, East Liverpool 1

WELLSBURG - Nick Breen, Zach Shaffer, Shane Paesano and Kyle Wales each enjoyed multi-hit games as Brooke (5-9) defeated East Liverpool.

Winning pitcher David Alward struck out five.

St. Clairsville 14, Indian Creek 7

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Tom Machovina singled twice, doubled and drove in five as St. Clairsville doubled up Indian Creek. Zach Kinnick had four hits and was a home run shy of the cycle for the Red Devils.

James Watson singled, homered, and drove in three runs to pace the Redskins.

Cambridge 10, Coshocton 0

CAMBRIDGE - Timmy Harvey singled twice and drove in three as Cambridge (14-3) defeated Coshocton (5-9). Billy Webb scattered three hits and struck out four to earn a victory.

Cameron 14, Morgantown Trinity 5

MORGANTOWN - Steve McDonald and Michael Scott each drove in two runs and Kyle Warsinsky had two hits and two RBI as Cameron (8-6) pounded Morgantown Trinity (5-7) at Milan Park.

Paden City 8, St. John Central 0

PADEN CITY - Wes Cosper struck out 14 and didn't allow a hit, then rapped a pair of singles and drove in two to lead Paden City past St. John.

Linsly 10, Wheeling Central 0

WHEELING - Megan Byhanna struck out nine and scattered two hits - both by Wheeling Central catcher Lauren Baker - as Linsly (5-9) rolled to a victory against the Maroon Knights (10-9) at Lisa's Field.

Caitlyn Johnson singled and drove in three and Stephanie Johnstone singled twice and drove in a run to lead the Cadets. Byhanna helped her own cause with two hits and two RBI. Erika Mitchem tripled and drove in a run.

Wheeling Park 14

Martins Ferry 3

WHEELING - Two-way threat Angela Johnson struck out nine, doubled twice and homered, leading Wheeling Park (14-2) past Martins Ferry.

Amy Mathieu and Elizabeth Kosowski each had three hits for the Patriots.

Kaci Rykowski's double was one of four hits for the Purple Riders.

Magnolia 4, Cameron 2

CAMERON - Corrine Murdock homered and drove in two runs to back a three-hit, 11-strikeout pitching effort by Tori Tharp.

Shelby Wood homered and drove in two for Cameron.

Cameron 12, Paden City 4

CAMERON - Tara Paczewski struck out 11 - 21 in the two games combined - and allowed just one hit as Cameron (8-5) turned around and defeated Paden City.

Janet Peterson singled twice and drove in two runs, while Kelsey Allen had two hits and an RBI.

Ashley Efaw had Paden City's lone hit.

Beaver Local 8, Buckeye Local 5

CONNORVILLE - Kayla Mackall singled twice, drove in a run, and was the winning pitcher as Beaver Local (5-7) defeated Buckeye Local (6-7).

Tori Nest and J.C. Gotchall each drove in two runs for the Panthers. Paige Harter doubled, singled, and drove in one.

Steub. Catholic 4, St. John Central 2

BELLAIRE - Paige Creamer struck out 11 and Emily Canella, Kelly Costantini, Sara Ashmead, Chelsea Hutton each drove in a run as Steubenville Catholic (13-4) doubled up St. John Central (11-4).

Devin Call and Bethany Cera both enjoyed multi-hit games for the Irish.

Steubenville 9, John Marshall 0

GLEN DALE - Haley Rush had two hits and drove in three, while Hannah Gossett and Alexa Perko each drove in two, as John Marshall (13-5) blanked Steubenville (9-8).

Dee Gamble struck out 10 to earn a victory. Shannon Stipetich singled twice, doubled and drove in a run.

Taylor Lyons singled twice for Big Red.

Harrison Central 10, Union Local 1

CADIZ - Sara Pelegreen struck out 12 and Kaylee Horn and Sabrina Cunningham each drove in two runs as Harrison Central (13-0) stayed unbeaten with a victory vs. Union Local.

Brooke Schultz and Jackie Sentich each enjoyed multi-hit games for the Huskies.

Rachel Stahl led Union Local with two hits and Shayla Lucas singled and drove in a run.

Shenandoah 7, Fort Frye 3

NEW MATAMORAS - Megan Grywalksi was 4-for-4 with six RBI, leading Shenandoah (11-2) past Fort Frye (8-4).

Marcie Fouss had three singles to lead the Zeps, who left 12 on base, six in scoring position.

Parkersburg South 8

Indian Creek 2

WINTERSVILLE - Sammie Fordyce struck out six and delivered three hits of her own as Parkersburg South defeated Indian Creek (5-4).

Selby Brandon doubled and drove in a run and Rachel Ossio singled twice for the Redskins.

Bishop Donahue 9, Shadyside 3

WHEELING - Jessica Midcap singled, doubled, and drove in four to back the three-hit pitching of Sarah Blazer and Taylore Barry, as Bishop Donahue (8-9) defeated Shadyside (4-9).

Barry and Alexis George each added two RBI in the victory.

Hanna Caldwell singled and drove in two for the Tigers.

Weir 7, Bellaire 1

BELLAIRE - Ashley Jones homered and drove in two runs and Kaitlyn Pitchok added two RBI, as Weir (13-3) defeated Bellaire.

Kassi Robinson also singled and drove in a run. Tiffany Swiger struck out six.

Megan Kowalczyk and Sara Marlin each had two singles for the Big Reds.

Valley 10, Hundred 0

HUNDRED - Alyssa Midcap struck out 12 and yielded only one hit, as Valley (7-10) routed Hundred.

Megan Midcap had two hits and drove in two runs, while both Ally Webber and Kayle Cecil each had an RBI.
