Dominic Petrozzi

PETROZZI, Dominic J., 82, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009, at the Carriage House in Steubenville, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 27, 1926, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, the son of the late Loreto and Mary (Morocco) Petrozzi. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Rocco, Anthony and Alfonso Petrozzi; two sisters, Palma Cassidy and Adeline Paravano; and two sister-in-laws, Marie and Minda Petrozzi.

Dominic retired in 1982 after 30 years of service as a Foreman at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church; he was both a former councilman and a former service director for the village of Mingo Junction and was past Grand Knight and member of the Mingo Junction Knights of Columbus, Council #4361.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (Torrieri) Petrozzi, whom he married January 8, 1949; five daughters, Linda (Jerry) Vogt of Mingo, Diane (David) Ryan of Piney Fork, Ohio, Susan (Jake) Sutton of Irondale, Ohio, Sharen (Paul) Valuska of Steubenville and Karen (Troy) Slavin of Sewickley, PA; two brothers, Armand "Mundy" Petrozzi of Brilliant, Ohio and Atillio (Louise) Petrozzi of St. Clairsville, Ohio; two sisters, Pearl Everson of Westerville, Ohio, and Lucille (James) Riley of St. Clairsville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Keith Vogt and his fiance Sara Hockenheimer, Kelli Vogt, Jeff and Julie Ryan, Scott and Matthew Sutton, Justin and Kristin Riapos and Alyssa Havelka; three step-grandchildren, Randi Valuska and Autumn and Chad Slavin; and three sister-in-laws, Annette Petrozzi of Worthington, Ohio, Ellen Petrozzi of Smithfield, Ohio, and Mary Petrozzi of Florida.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.

On Wednesday there will be a Vigil Service at 2 p.m. and a Rosary Service at 8:30 p.m.
