He was born August 22, 1926, the son of the late William E. Sr. and Alma Kinkade Archey.
He was retired from the former Wheeling Machine Products. He was a WWII Navy veteran; a member of the American Legion and V.F.W.; a charter member of the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department; and a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vicky.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois Loy Archey; his sons, Rick Archey and his wife, Mary Frances, of Pittsburgh, Russ Archey and his wife, Deborah, of Wheeling, William Randall Archey and his wife, Donna, of Wheeling, Robert Archey and his wife, Tina, of McMechen, Roger Archey and his wife, Stacy Dorff, of Moundsville, and Rodd Archey of Wheeling; his daughters, Rhonda Archey of Wheeling and Rita Custer and her husband, Wayne, of Wheeling; grandchildren include, Crystal Archey, Jenna Archey, Charles David Smith, Olivia Archey, Rose Archey, Heather Archey, William Archey, Stephanie Dorff, Danielle Archey, and Emily Lee Archey.
Also surviving are sisters, Dorothy Moore of Morgantown, Jean Knapp and husband, Charles, of Wellsburg, and Lila Belt and her husband, Lawrence, of Triadelphia.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling, where services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2007, with the Reverend John Flynn officiating.
Interment to follow in Allen Grove Cemetery, Sherrard.
Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services.
