Man Sent To Prison For Home Invasion
By ANNIE DIMMICK Staff WriterThough John Cutright will spend one to 10 years in prison for a Glen Dale home invasion, he narrowly missed getting at least an additional five.
As part of a plea agreement, the Moundsville resident on Monday pleaded guilty to one felony count of entry of a building other than a dwelling, a lesser included offense to his original charge of burglary, which carries a one to 15 year sentence.
In addition, Marshall County Circuit Judge Mark A. Karl, per the agreement, dropped a misdemeanor count of brandishing, which carries a possible sentence of up to one year.
The charges stem from a May 14 incident in which Cutright, 45, entered a Wheeling Avenue residence. According to police, Cutright allegedly had a knife and waved it from side to side while a resident of the home, who had just returned, backed away. The resident waved down a passing car and law enforcement was contacted, police said.
Karl ordered Cutright to begin serving his sentence at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Division of Corrections side of the Northern Regional Jail.

Home invasions are dramatically on the rise everywhere. The FBI says that a home is invaded once every 12 seconds. Burglars mainly just "kick in" doors. They can usually get through your door in less than 1 second with one good well placed kick. It happens most often due to door frame failure. Wooden door frames simply can't hold up to the impact. There is a product called the Door Security Pro that prevents home invasions due to door kick-ins. It's easy to install and lasts forever. It's available online from: ***********DoorSecurityPro****
