Tribett Back Behind Bars for Huffing

By GABE WELLS Staff Writer
POSTED: October 6, 2009

A man known locally for his apparent addiction to huffing spray paint is again behind bars.

Patrick Tribett, 45, of McMechen was being held Monday in the Northern Regional Jail on a charge of breathing intoxicating compounds. He was arrested by Wheeling police at about 6 a.m. in the 7-Eleven store on Market Street.

Officers responded to the area following a report of a man covered in gold paint. Lt. Mike VanKirk, who is Wheeling's acting police chief, said the arrest was made without incident.

Tribett has been arrested at least five times by local police departments for huffing spray paint. Prior to Monday, Tribett was last arrested for huffing on Aug. 29 in McMechen. At that time, police found him inhaling paint in an area near the industrial park known as the Mud Pit.

Tribett received national publicity in 2005 after being arrested by the Bellaire Police Department. In his mugshot, the lower half of his face was covered in gold paint from inhaling the intoxicant.

Spray paint covered Tribett's lower face and hands on March 24 of this year when McMechen police found him walking along W.Va. 2. In June 2006, Wheeling police found him intoxicated, again with his face covered in paint, and that arrest was made just one week after he was arrested under the Interstate 470 bridge, where he was found huffing paint. Last year, Wheeling police charged him with public intoxication after finding him staggering along Market Street near 15th Street in Wheeling.

if the guy has nothing more serious than a few felonies he may still surface as on of Obamas czars or a regional Acorn manager.

this guy clearly knows what he is doing. let him do himself in if that is the light at end of his tunnel. I don't know him and am not related so I can look at him as a non contributing individaul who is more bother than promise.

But for the grace. I know. It could be you.

This man truly needs help. He is killing hisself and no one seems to care. Isn't there some way someone can help him? He does have a soul. It is not to late for him to change. Jail is not the answer for him. We need to pray for him.
