Red Roof Inn Robbed At Knifepoint
Compiled by StaffST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Belmont County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Red Roof Inn in St. Clairsville early Saturday.
The alleged robber came into the motel around 4:30 a.m. and robbed the desk clerk at knifepoint, according to the sheriff's report. The suspect then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is reported to be a tall, bald, middle-aged black male who was wearing a dark hooded jacket, white shirt and dark pants. No one was injured during the robbery.
Investigators have security footage of the robbery. The Belmont County Sheriff's Office is requesting that anyone with information or anyone who recognizes the suspect from the security footage to call the sheriff's office at 740-695-7933.
Meanwhile, a suspect is still being sought in the alleged armed robbery on Oct. 15 of the Family Market and Custom Killing butcher shop in Centerville. In that case, a white male brandished a handgun.

Interesting comments. And most make me glad now that we "chose" to retire back here where we grew up. One of the major reasons was lack of crime. Living on the East Coast is totally different from here & not for the better in many ways. Both my husband & I own hand guns which we know how to use, keep loaded (what's the point in having an unloaded one?) in our night stands along with a loaded 20 guage in the closet. We both practice using them regularly. The point is that I would HATE to shoot someone coming into my house, but I had a history teacher in 7th grade who survived Iwo Jima & frankly was the only WW2 vet who saw action I ever remember even speaking of it. He told us that the govern. did a survey after WW2 on those men who had died or been shot who had never fired their weapons. The reason they found out was soldiers REALLY didn't think another person would take their lives. That story has stayed with me for yrs. & is my basis for keeping a loaded

UNCOMMONSENSE - Yes, you're right about that. I think both parties are going to get a nasty wake-up call this week. Conservatives will likely win two off-year or special elections and lefty Dems will just barely hold onto the NJ governorship. That will translate into fear-induced defections from BoyObaMao in the Congress. It's not Rs and Ds anymore. More like Tea Party versus ACORN. We can still take back our government.

These are desperate times. And EVERY business needs to be prepared for robbers. Despite all the washington propaganda, this economy continues to grow worse. As it does, more and more such crimes will occur.

Nancy - I think it's a good thing you look at it that way. For one thing, a person of your extremely limited intelligence and mental instability is not someone who should have a firearm. For another, it would be preferable that people like you wait for the police who will bring the chalk and draw an outline of your body on the ground before they carry you off to the morgue. The only downside is that your being dead won't keep the Democrats from casting a vote for you until the end of time.

Ellis - Property rights? For these lefties, NO RIGHTS exist except for those they demand for themselves. People like you and me are supposed to shut up and take it as far as they're concerned. But I think the game's about over for them.

Sphinx You and Nancy drink the same Kool-Aid. Let's say a couple of illegals break into your house at 3am and attempt to rob you and rape your wife. Do you call the police and wait several minutes for a response, while the amigos are doing their thing, or do you defend your home, your property and your family? Even after spelling your name, giving your SS # and a description of the perps to the sleepy 911 operator, it may be several minutes before the police cruise by. What do you do? Are you man enough to protect what is yours? Are you man enough to defend your family? Or do you believe that these criminals have a right to take what they want? See, that's the vibe I'm getting from you liberals. It's no wonder most of you are on welfare and are supporters of Barry Sotero. You feel that people should take whatever they want and that property rights don't exist. Sad.

NancySI: So someone breaks into my house and I'm supposed to wait for the police to show? What if I beat the intruder with a baseball bat? You have the choice of being unarmed and waiting for the police to protect you, but according to The Constitution, I have the right to defend myself and my family.

walksabout - Depends on what the walls are made of. About 2/3 of the walls in my home are plaster and wood lathe. Any round that penetrated both sides of a wall like that would be slowed considerably. A 12 gauge shotgun is actually best for home defense. You're unlikely to miss and, even with sheetrock walls, the penetration slows the pellet to the point of it being far less dangerous to the innocent.

hey Gray. I assigned every family member a specific diagram to place their beds and a password to shout if they move in the night. In case I need to shoot through the walls or something along that lines. good plan ?

the majority of criminals are democrats or a variation of some misguided mess. It is not law enforcements duty to prevent. it is difficult enough to preserve protect and defend the public interest. Lawmen are not ovligated to lay down their lives for others as routine operation procedures. If there is any chance the danger to me is greater than to him whom I protect. I will be at his funeral if I have a raional thought process.

It's too bad a good guy had not brought a gun to that little knife fight. Employers if people, especially those all night and very vulnerable work shifts, refuse to allow emplyees to be armed because they're more concerned with defending a "liability lawsuit" than they are about the lives of their employees. Once again, the lawyers are the problem, but, hey, they're mostly Democrats so their greed is fine and dandy.

Spoken as a true pacifist, NancySI. Americans have always had a right to self defense, and always will, whether you like it or not, except in liberal enclaves where Second Amendment rights have been denied to citizens. Please stop lying about what conservatives believe - as if you have any clue - and please move somewhere you will be more comfortable among other defenseless pacifists. Also, if you don’t like having your posts deleted, stop posting graphic sexual terms in them. Maybe that crap is ok on your p o r n sites, but it’s not ok here.

Spoken as a true teabagger Ellis. Teabaggers believe they have a right to kill anyone that they deem is guilty of anything that they don't like. Id rather let the government and cops figure that out instead of a bunch of teabaggers. Go ahead NR, keep deleting my posts when you don't like the truth.

All employees should be armed and should be trained in the use of a gun. Scumbag lawyers have made it difficult for owners of property to rightfully defend what is theirs. If law abiding citizens started killing criminals, it would send a message to the criminal community. Want to rob my store? Doing so may be hazardous to your health. I cannot believe that politicians and cops want citizens to be victims. The only reason I can think of is that a weak, unarmed population is defenseless and will call on government to "do something", which means higher taxes and more power for government. The police do not deter crime. They get there in time to chalk you up and/or write a report (if they are in the mood).
