Obama Should Reject EU Demands

News-Register
POSTED: November 4, 2009

European Union leaders are insisting that the United States must do more to fight "global warming." They want more than a U.S. agreement to cripple the economies of many of our states. They also want us to help underdeveloped countries that are not likely to approve climate change laws of their own.

As incredible as that sounds, it is true. EU leaders made it clear this week, about a month ahead of a major meeting in Copenhagen to discuss climate change.

EU leaders want the United States to approve drastic measures such as the "cap and trade" bill already approved by the House of Representatives. German Chancellor Angela Merkel emphasized the point Tuesday, in a speech to Congress. "We have no time to lose," she told U.S. lawmakers.

Measures such as those in the cap and trade bill would devastate the economies of some states, including West Virginia and Ohio. But that isn't enough for the EU. Leaders of that organization said this week that they want the United States to contribute billions of dollars to help underdeveloped countries cope with climate change - though to date, we have heard of no serious economic problems linked to global warming.

Clearly, the EU leaders are out to make the U.S. economy less competitive. We urge President Barack Obama to remember, in dealing with the EU demands, that he represents Americans, not Europeans.

Dolphin, Reactionary, & Ellis: Excellent comments from each of you. Unfortunately an oath is only as good as the person is honest. And there doesn't seem to be much honesty in D.C.

Global warming. What a lie! Just goes to show that people will believe just about anything except the simple truth.

he should reject, but he can't. election outcomes are not about us or our loosely grounded untrained perception of what is good or positive concealed behind the mystery decoy of political vote rewarding hot air regularly escaping the oral cavity of the elected and appointed gaggle.

Throwing around words like "cripple" and "devastate" should show readers just how afraid the Nuttings and Mikey are about cap and trade. They don't care about anything but making money or helping their buds who own coal companies make more money. They hate unions and employees of coal companies and have no idea or don't care how "devastating" and "crippling" it is to be without health care or a decent paying job. They hate the environment and don't believe that mountaintop removal is a blight on the earth...it's just the cheaper way to make money doncha know.

I'm really getting sick of the lies and ignorance perpetuated by this newspaper.

The UN COP15 Climate Conference is December 8 to 15 in Copenhagen.

The UN and Islamic nations are out to destroy the US economy and military power and lower us to third world status.

The first step has already been done. The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize now gives BHO a worldwide mandate and authority to back down on all military operations and US security, including Afganistan. Will he feel compelled to live up to the peace prize ?

The next step is the all out attack on the US economy at the UN Climate Conference, COP15, in Copenhagen. Will he sign the treaty ?

The earth is expected to keep cooling for at least the next 30 years. CO2 warming is a hoax.

To me, the act of a president ceding US sovereignty to the UN in any matter is an act of treason.

This is the United States of America. The President of the United States takes an oath to defend this nation against all foreign and domestic enemies. Nations that wish to do us harm, militarily or economically, must be considered as enemies. They want to destroy our country to help themselves. They cannot stand on their own and so they've given their national identities, and their rights, to an unelected EU leadership in Brussels.

I pray that the President has the sack to stand up for the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. And I pray that the American people come to realize that A) The EU will steal your identity, laws, currency and self-governance and B) Our freedom is too dear and has been purchased at too high a price for us to simply roll over and give away everything we've fought for.

The weak bow down and ask for bureaucracy. The strong believe in their nation.

And, oh yeah, global warming is a scam, perpetrated by Al Goreleone to line his pockets.

Barry Hussein's incessant drive to be a "Euro-Cosmopolitan" will only urge him on to greater mistakes that signing on with the Euro-nitwits!

Europe can go to H e l l ! We bailed them out in 42-45 and rebuilt the d a m n place for the last 50 years, and buried the Soviet "Bear" for the sniviling lemmings.

Now they want us to cut our throat for them ,....AGAIN! And Barry Hussein will go right along with it because that is what his 'handlers' tell him to do.

You asked for it America.....You got it!
