Liberals Don’t Want Us to Know About Bill

News-Register
POSTED: November 8, 2009

Last week Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, asked that a Senate vote on climate change legislation be delayed until a detailed analysis of the measure's impact on the economy can be prepared. Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee turned him down.

Voinovich, described by The Columbus Dispatch as "emotional" during the committee meeting, pleaded for a delay. He pointed out that climate change legislation "will have consequences for every person in our country." Yet the committee, led by Chairwoman Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said no.

No wonder Voinovich was emotional. He understands that the Senate climate change bill could be devastating for many Ohioans.

Liberals in the Senate don't care. They would rather vote on the bill before their peers - and other Americans - know too much about the bill.

That is not how politics is supposed to work in our country.

What did the White house talking head say the average pay for that $92,000 job was? Probably around $40,000. Tell you what, give me your figure, $92k each, and I will be happy as all get out to hire a bunch of $40,000 workers, and let them do finger painting. That's about all the benefit the economy will get from those jobs.

Remember how often we used to hear that Joe Biden was one of the smartest men in Congress? The scary thing is, they might have been right. There is one man up there with a science degree, Vern Ehlers (R-Michigan), and as far as I know no one has an engineering degree. So there is one man with the education to really understand the science behind the human climate change arguements, and he opposes Cap and Tax. My background is engineering, not science, but I bet I could come up with five questions about the atmosphere that Gore could not answer, and he is the so-called expert. Yeah, expert in working the biggest scam in human history. I still think this is all just his revenge on us for not making him president.

Once again the modern left proves that they haven't moved away from their "great" role models: Mao, Stalin and yes Hitler.

NEWS ALERT FROM ABC NEWS: $160,000 Per Stimulus Job? White House Calls That 'Calculator Abuse'. So let's see. Assuming their number is right, 160 billion divided by 1 million. Does that mean the stimulus costs taxpayers $160,000 per job? Jared Bernstein, chief economist and senior economic advisor to the vice president, called that "calculator abuse." Only the Liberals would argue with simple math and that is their speciality “SIMPLE”. He said the cost per job was actually $92,000 but acknowledged that estimate is for the whole stimulus package as of the end of 2010. How many $92,000 jobs were created or saved in Mollohan’s district?

The health care bill by Speaker Nancy Pelosi is over 1,900 pages for a reason. It is much easier to dispense goodies to favored interest groups if they are surrounded by a lot of legislative legalese. For example, check out this juicy morsel to the trial lawyers (page 1431-1433 of the bill): 1. Section 2531, entitled “Medical Liability Alternatives,” establishes an incentive program for states to adopt and implement alternatives to medical liability litigation. [But]…… a state is not eligible for the incentive payments if that state puts a law on the books that limits attorneys’ fees or imposes caps on damages. Scum suckers protecting the other scum suckers!

You are a typical, gutless, bottom feeding Liberal. During the Bush years you posted a body count every day and seem to be pleased as the number increased. Now that the half-breed is in charge you, and the Liberal press, ignore the issue. It has been 7 months, since the man he appointed to be in charge, requested additional support. This is not a surprise since he voted 168 times in the Illinois Senate with a simple present. The only votes he cast was for protection of the "BROTHERS". It took him six months to pick a dog which is about the same time it took him to pick Michele. Is there a correlation between the two selections ?

“European non-ferrous metals producers may move to countries where environmental legislation is less strict unless the impact of forthcoming measures is reduced, an industry spokesman said on Thursday.

Javier Targhetta, president of Eurometaux, said the industry was concerned over high and unpredictable power costs [and] the added cost of a new emissions trading scheme (ETS) in 2013 …

Targhetta was particularly concerned over what he said was the reluctance of utilities to sell power for terms of three years or more following deregulation for heavy users in Spain last year.

“This increases long-term insecurity and leads to a halt in investment. If we carry on like this, the industry is destined to disappear,” he said.

oldsteelmaker Your 11-08-09 2:40 AM comment accurately summarizes what C&T is about. But it's not just about steel, it's about virtually all manufacturing that requires large amounts of energy. All you need know is that the UN/IPCC are not concerned with America's interests. C&T will make rich globalists and foreign tyrants richer and the poor worldwide poorer.

You know oldsteel, I know the consultant brought in many many years ago about the electric furnace...he TOLD them in his analysis that IN THE LONG RUN, it was the correct way to proceed. They chose not to do so. It was about economics not emissions in those days. Oh and as for the numbers employed, anything you upgrade to utilize less employees will use less employees. More profit for the company. Or don't you support making profits?

Nucor is an American steel producer, producing steel right here in the US. It is one of the best managed companies on the planet and it can compete with ANYONE. In 40 years, it has never laid off a worker due to lack of work. It has never failed to pay a dividend. It earned a net profit of $1.83 billion in 2008, and 2009 is the first year in which it EVER had a losing quarter.

If Nucor can do it, why can't Wheeling-Pitt? Oh, that's right. Obsolete plant. Bad logistics and planning. Poor quality. And union costs.

Ask any of Nucor's highly paid workers if they would rather work at a USWA plant.

No, the health care bill won't outlaw private insurance. But it will destroy private insurance.

You see, when Part D passed with bi-partisan support, 75% of seniors already had prescription drug coverage through their ex-employers, etc. Once Part D passed, the companies realized that they could save a lot of money by dumping the retirees' prescription coverage onto Part D.

Bottom line? Private plans ended, and seniors who already have coverage were dumped on taxpayers.

So, no, Part D didn't outlaw private plans. But it did make them too inconvenient, and expensive, to maintain.

Wonder, you idiot, it didn't leave; it's still there, under new owners. You clearly know nothing outside your own little world.

Sounds like you were tied to Weirton. That plant was badly obsolete, which is why National was willing to basically give it to the workers. The ESOP management did nothing fundamental to modernize the plant, so as things wore out it became more and more difficult to compete with Nucor and US Steel. By the time Bush took office the damage was done, so blaming him a waste of breath.

Wonder, you prove how totally uninformed you are. The steel industry in 2007 in this country shipped almost as many tons as they did in a typical year in the 1970s. The names in front of some plants have changed, and the old, hopelessy obsolete ones are gone, and only half of the open plants are staffed by the USWA, but they are still there. US-Gary still typically makes 5 million tons a year. Just with 6000 steelworkers, not 25,000.

Truth, I notice you made no attempt to refute my statements. Thought so...

WV, GUAM??? You must me taking some serious bad drugs. Since every state has it's own consumer regulations, if you do business there you have to obey their rules. Or didn't you know that malpractise and insurance fraud cases are tried in state courts?

And what does that have to do with CAP AND TRADE? Again, you can't beat the arguement, so change the subject.
