EVANS, Russell Leland Sr., 81 of Triadelphia, W.Va., died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at his home.
He was born March 8, 1928 in Newark, Ohio, the son of the late Leo V. and Bessie Amspaugh Evans.
Mr. Evans was a glassblower for Hinzey Glasco in Newark, OH, a glassblower at the former Rodephers in Bellaire, OH.
He was a retired maintenance man at Reed Minerals in Moundsville, WV; and a Methodist by faith.
He was a member of Bates Lodge #33 A.F.&A.M., the El Tor Grotto where he was a Monarch two times; and a member of the Osiris Temple of the Shrine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Friend Evans who died on January 23, 2009; an infant son, two grandsons, Andrew Ingold and Garret Evans; a brother, Francis Evans; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Evans and a brother-in-law, William Ray.
Surviving are his children, Becky Miner and her husband, Donald, Sr. of Triadelphia, Lorrie Ingold of Bethesda, OH, Russell L. Evans, Jr., of Triadelphia, Perry Evans of Newark, OH, Debbie Hill of Newark, OH, and Patty Evans of Cambridge, OH; two sisters, Susie Ray of Newark, OH and Naomi Leggit of Columbus, OH; a brother, Delbert Evans of Newark, OH; several grandchildren, several great- grandchildren; and his loving dog and faithful friend, Shadow.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling, where services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Marci Hile officiating. Entombment in Halcyon Hills.
