Injured circus acrobats plan lawsuit over accident

BOSTON (AP) — Lawyers for seven of the eight circus acrobats injured during a hair-hanging stunt say they plan to file a lawsuit after they conclude an investigation into what happened.

Four of the acrobats spoke Tuesday at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.

Dayana Costa of Brazil, who was wearing a neck brace, had pins in her arms and was in a motorized chair. She said her recovery was difficult and painful.

Viktoriya Medeiros, who with her husband was the leader of the troupe, said they all were terribly injured. She wore a neck brace and was in a wheelchair.

Their lawyers say it's too early to tell exactly who they would sue, but that they could include the maker of a carabiner clip that investigators said snapped, sending the acrobats plummeting three stories to the floor.
