‘Fight Night’ Sat. on Island

WHEELING - Jerry Thomas' West Virginia Sports Promotions, Inc. and the Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack are pleased to present ''Fight Night XXVI,'' a special night of live boxing and kick boxing featuring the region's top MMA fighters, at 7:30 p.m Saturday in the recently expanded Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack Showroom.

Two main event fights will be featured on the card; undefeated light heavyweight MMA Champion Travis "The Terror" Clark, (4-0, 3KO's) of Morristown will face Danny "Demon Alcohol" Shull, a veteran of eight professional fights, who is from Winchester, Va., in six-round bout.

The Co-Main will feature undefeated Justin "Lumberjack" Howes (9 -0, 7 KO's), of Buckhannon against "Wild" Bill Shahan, (7-2, 6 KO's) in a 10 round bout, for the vacant West Virginia Heavyweight Championship. Howes is a former four-time Toughman champion. Shahan is a former two-time Toughman champion and a former college football player at Glenville State College. The bout has been sanctioned by the W.Va. State Athletic Commission. The state heavyweight title was previously held by Brian Minto, of Butler, Pa.. Minto recently vacated the title, making way for the Howes vs. Shahan championship bout.

Several other top MMA and kick boxers, including "The Fighting Ring Girl" Monica Gray and MMA champion Ronnie Green both of Wheeling will also fight on the card. Ronnie Green will be making his professional debut.

Tickets are on sale now at Convenient Food Marts on Huron St in Wheeling and at the Convenient Mart located on Main Street in St. Clairsville. Ticket prices are $20 and $30 for reserved seating and $50 for Gold Ringside seats (first three rows).
