Dojack Due In Court Thursday
By GABE WELLS Staff WriterST. CLAIRSVILLE - A hearing in the case against Chad Dojack will be held Thursday, just five days before the suspended Bridgeport police chief is slated to stand trial for his alleged role in a celebrity scandal.
Dojack, 30, is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Belmont County Common Pleas Court. The hearing is a pre-trial status conference regarding his alleged role in crimes against Michelle Ross, the surrogate mother for the children of Hollywood stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
Dojack faces two counts of complicity to burglary and one count of complicity to receive stolen property in the case, which is set for Jan. 12. Dojack faces a prison term of 9 1/2 years.
Former Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter has already been convicted and sentenced for his involvement in the crimes.
Special Prosecutor T. Shawn Hervey said recently that he was negotiating a plea agreement with Dojack and his attorney, Edward Sustersic. Hervey and Sustersic could not be reached today for comment on whether an agreement has been reached.
According to the charges, Carpenter and Dojack conspired to steal and then sell items that identified Ross, a Martins Ferry woman, as the surrogate for the children of Parker and Broderick.
Carpenter is appealing his conviction on charges of theft in office and receiving stolen property. He is currently being held in a state prison in Orient, Ohio where is serving a sentence of 2 years and 8 months.

I can't understand how a cop accused of misconduct and criminal behavior is still getting paid. I can see him being placed on administrative leave but it should not be paid leave. If found guilty or taking a plea bargain and pleading guilty the Village of Bridgeport should seek restitution of all money paid while on leave.

Will this loser continue to get his pension and/or additional benefits like Carpenter? There needs to be an investigation into these cases. Carpenter should not get to keep his benefits. Dojack should lose all of his benefits, as well. This Good Ole Boy Social Democratic Party network has destroyed the Ohio Valley. Steubenville and Wheeling are both facing a slow death partially thanks to local corruption and One-Party Rule.

I guess everyones in agreement this time. There is NO ROOM for a bad cop, especially a Police Chief. He deserves no better than anyone else.

Of course he's going to cop a plea. Gotta avoid time in jail and gotta keep that taxpayer funded paycheck coming in. It's all in the family.

More croonies bite the dust. This is what happens when Ole Boy & Family Politics intervene. The Upper ohio Valley has been controlled by a single political party longer thanthe communist controlled the former U.S.S.R. Ben Franklin said it best " Absolute power breeds absolute corruption" Without a balanced multi party system, there is no accountability or fear of reprisals. Look at Jefferson County,Ohio. One can not find an information site without reference to Jefferson County's corruption from the racketeer indictments of teh Abdalla brothers and thier brother the sheriff to a federal decree calling The Jefferson Countty Democratic Party as an organized crime operation. Wonder why we are so poor and businesses avoid our area? Jefferson County commissioners face hurdle in moving out of shadow of corruption. - News front Dec 2, 2009
