As a former resident of the city of Wheeling -I get back there quite frequently - I watch what is happening via the News-Register's website.
I read about the "city fathers" wanting to demolish this building and that building and many other "eyesores" around the city but never do I see anything about tearing down the biggest eyesore of them all. That is the old Roger's Hotel on 14th St. This hotel - or what is left of it - has been in a deplorable condition for 20 to 25 years or more ....but it still sits there.
Is the city afraid to contact the owner and present them with a raze order? Seems like this is overdue.
