Dr. Bernard and Rosamund Grubler of Wheeling will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, July 7.
They were united in marriage July 7, 1951 in the old St. Michael Catholic Church by the bride's three uncles, the Rev. Andrew Kettus, the Rev. John Emmerth and the Rev. Louis Emmerth.
Rosamund Grubler is the daughter of the late Agnes and Robert Emmerth Sr. of Wheeling. She is a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She was employed by Hazel Atlas Glass Co. before dedicating the rest of her time to rearing their nine children.
Grubler is the son of the late Regina and Bernard Grubler Sr. of Wheeling. He is a 1948 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry. He retired from the practice of dentistry in Wheeling in 1997.
They both continue to be active since retirement. He serves on several state dental licensing boards. She served 15 years as cantor for funeral Masses at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Together with their nine married children and two of their married grandchildren, they will celebrate 293 years of family marriage.
The family includes Christine Collins and her husband, Tim, of Downingtown, Pa.; Barbara Reisinger and her husband, Jay, of Wheeling; Dr. Michael and his wife, Joan, of Wheeling; Rose Palmer and her husband, Dr. Jack, of Wheeling; Linda Perlozzo and her husband, Tom, of Ocean City, Md.; David and his wife, Laura, of Wheeling; Rita Sokos and her husband, Louis, of Morgantown; Patricia Criminski and her husband, David, of Pickerington, Ohio, and Dr. Joseph and his wife, Kristine, of Wheeling. They have 27 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
They celebrated their anniversary with most of the family at a cottage in Oglebay Park this past week.
