Pediatrician to discuss environment, health

Wheeling Country Day School will host the second program of the Helping You Help Your Kids Community Speaker Series at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 on the campus on Park Road.

The program will be presented by nationally known pediatrician and speaker Dr. Nancy O'Hara of the Center for Autism and Integrative Health in Wilton, Conn. The presentation titled, "Why All the Allergies, Asthma, ADHD and Autism?" will offer advice to parents about preparing their children for the upcoming school year with a focus on environmental effects on children. The lecture is offered by Wheeling Country Day School in conjunction with the Augusta Levy Learning Center, which is a Wheeling school for children on the autism spectrum.

Dr. Nancy O'Hara is a board certified pediatrician who graduated magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After residency, chief residency and general pediatric fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, O'Hara was in private practice for seven years. Since 1999, she has dedicated her practice to the integrative and holistic care of children with neurodevelopmental disorders and autistic spectrum disorder.

The speaker series is designed to help educate parents and caregivers about key issues pertaining to early childhood development and provide tools necessary to maximize potential for learning.

This free program is open to the public and made possible through the support of a grant through the Community Foundation of the Ohio Valley. Parents, grandparents, caregivers, educators, healthcare providers and childcare providers are invited to attend. Child care will be provided. For more information, call 304-232-2430.
