BURGER, Henry "Hank" Edward, 85, of Shadyside, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
He was born May 25, 1926, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Henry W. and Matilda (Auth) Burger. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shadyside, Ohio, and retired from Consolidated Aluminum Corporation as an electrician. He was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Verna (Graebe) Burger; second wife, Geraldine (Gaynor) Burger; his son, Mark S. Burger; two daughters, Christina M. Burger and Kathleen A. Burger; four brothers, Charles, Herbert, Raymond and Donald Burger; and his sister, Dorothy Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann Gulley of Shadyside, Ohio; three children, Michael Burger of Arlington, Texas, Jeffrey (Marie) Burger of Catawba, N.C., and Diane (Matthew) Wagner, of Gambrills, Md.; two stepsons, J. Michael Gulley and Ian Gulley; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Ries of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and a grandson, Zachary Wagner.
Family and friends will be received Friday, October 21, 2011, at Bauknecht- Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, 3900 Central Ave., Shadyside, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shadyside, Ohio, Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Samuel Saprano as celebrant. There will be a Legion service 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. And a vigil service 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Labre Indian School of Ashland, Mont., (Indian Reservation and School) or St. John Grade School.
Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling.
