St. Clairsville senior Eric Eaton cannot wait to get back in the swimming pool.

"Last season Eric did alright, but not as well as he hoped too," Red Devils' coach Melanie Eaton.

"He had mono in the fall and never really came back from it."

Despite his bout with mono, Eric Eaton was still able to produce top three finishes at the OVAC championships in Steubenville.

He placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.20 and third in the 200 individual medley hitting the finish pad at 2:13.13.

Eaton also competed in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

The medley relay finished fourth overall with the team of Nick Pokas, Michael Eaton and Ryan Nolte, while the freestyle relay, which consisted of Michael Eaton, Logan Paxton, Nolte, placed fifth overall.

"Eric's quite important to this team," said Melanie Eaton, also his mother "He's our anchor."

Eaton even chose to forgo his senior football season with Bret McLean's talented playoff squad so he could be in top shape when swimming starts it's regular season soon.

"He's looking forward to this season and I expect really good things from him. He has been training really hard all off season," Melanie Eaton said.
