MARSHALL COUNTY - A fire broke out at a gas well site on Rines Ridge Road in Marshall County shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday.
The Simms Pad Site is owned by Gastar Energy, which is now trying to determine the cause.
According to Marshall County Emergency Management Director Tom Hart, the fire was in two holding tanks containing drip gas, a by-product of the well operation. The well head and drilling operations were not affected by the fire.
Workers at the scene shut down operations prior to firefighters' arrival as a precaution.
"The fire departments used foam to put the fire out," Hart said. "It took them about two hours to bring it under control and another hour to totally put it out. There were no injuries, no explosions and no evacuations."
Volunteer fire departments from St. Joseph, Grandview, Silver Hill,Washington Lands, and Moundsville responded to the call, as well as Wetzel County EMS.
