ACKERMAN, Alberta M., 87, of the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield, Ohio (formerly of Lewisville, Ohio) passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the center.
She was born near Miltonsburg, Ohio, on December 27, 1924 a daughter of the late Marion and Gertrude Miller Stephen.
Alberta was a former employee at the East Liverpool Pottery, East Liverpool, Ohio; a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg, Ohio where she was a member of the Catholic Women's Club and served as a treasurer for several years. She formerly owned a farm near Lewisville, Ohio and enjoyed farming.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Ackerman; two brothers, Francis and James J. Stephen; three sisters, Mildred Winland, Mary Elizabeth Carpenter and Dorothy Dudley.
Surviving are one sister, Emma Ruth Carpenter of Barnesville, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 S.R. 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik as the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Miltonsburg, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 35560 Miltonsburg-Calais Rd., Woodsfield, OH 43793. Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
