HOLMES, Lynn Diana RN, 67, passed peacefully on February 4, 2012 after a feisty eight year battle with ovarian cancer. She is remembered by hundreds of dear friends and her beloved family.
Lynn was a loving daughter to Jean Holmes of Wheeling, WV, and Walter Holmes of Clearwater, she was a loyal niece to Robert Hitchens of Columbus, OH and St. Petersburg; and a dear sister to Louise Hall (Ed Hall) and Bruce Holmes (Cathy Holmes).
She was an inspirational mother to her daughter, Angela (Barnes) Burke and son-in-law, David Burke of Tampa; and an adventurous "Oma" to her grandboys, Kyle and Ryan Burke. She was a nurturing aunt to her nieces, Elissa Hall McMullen (Josh), Kristen Hall Digiandomenico (Ryan), Anne Holmes Shisler (Jeremy) and a playful grandaunt to their children, Maddie McMullen, Lexi and Rocco Digiandomenico, Gilliam Shisler.
Lynn grew up in Wheeling attending Madison Elementary and Thompson Methodist Church. After moving to Springdale, she attended Park View Elementary, Bridge Street Middle, Triadelphia High and Christ United Methodist Church.
Lynn's greatest professional goal was becoming a registered nurse. Her most recent job as a hospice nurse for Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas County was the most treasured of her nursing career. After retiring, she continued to live an active life spending her remaining years playing, volunteering and traveling. In lieu of flowers, Lynn would like donations made to this wonderful foundation which helped her financially over the years, Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation: P.O. Box 48787, St. Petersburg, FL 33743.
