Barnesville's battling Shamrocks made state-ranked Zanesville Rosecrans sweat it out for the 32-minute duration Saturday night.
Coach Chris Pack's ball club, however, was unable to pull off what would have been considered an Eastern District shocker at Morristown.
Trailing by only 28-24 at halftime, Barnesville returned to score but four third quarter points in falling behind by 11. Still, the Shamrocks charged back before finally coming up short.
"It was the old 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' routine for us once again," Pack said. "We fought and scrapped four quarters. But we squandered some golden opportunities in a game we gave ourselves every chance to win."
Indeed, the Rocks played exceptional defense, forcing some 19 Bishop turnovers. Unfortunately, the Green countered by also committing 19 costly giveaways.
"Most people doubted we could play with Rosecrans but by the second quarter, our guys knew they could do it," Pack said.
