STEUBENVILLE - Paige Creamer ripped a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning that started a seven-run uprising and ended a 10-0 victory against rival Steubenville on Monday afternoon at Steve Zamana Field.

The senior added a single and double and two more RBI as the Crusaders raised their record to 7-2.

Oh yeah, she also pitched a no-hitter.

"Paige pitched well," Catholic Central coach Jim DiCarlo said. "She hit her spots."

Creamer struck out eight and walked one.

"I was concerned because I thought we would be off to a slow start because we've had about a five-day break," DiCarlo said. "I thought we hit the ball well in the middle innings. The girls hit the ball hard and that makes me feel good."

Creamer followed Maddy Gulan's double in the third for a 2-0 lead. Ashlynn Daley started the bottom of the fourth with a double and eventually scored for a 3-0 lead.

"We started one senior (Shanna Roberts), one junior (Christina Archer) and the rest are freshmen and sophomores," Big Red coach Dave Ziarko said.

"We're young and inexperienced, but we are getting better in certain aspects of the game.

"We struggled with the bats."

Central did not do that in the fifth inning.

Gulan singled and Creamer followed her her blast over the left field fence.

Kayla Lloyd singled, Daley reached on a fielder's choice, Moziejko singled and Tori Knight walked to load the sacks. Micca Mirabella singled, Allee Vandeborne reached on a fielder's choice and Taylor Clark walked. Rachel Sommers walked to score and Creamer and Lloyd followed with back-to-back singles to end the contest.

"I think Dave does a good job with the youth that he has," DiCarlo said. "Anytime it is Central and Big Red, you have to throw the records out the window. But, I didn't expect this."
