James and Norma Fleagane of Wheeling and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, March 31.
They were united in marriage March 31, 1962 at the Church of God, Cadiz, with the Rev. L.E. Powell officiating.
Norma Fleagane is the daughter of the late Emil and Mary Teichmann of Wolf Run, Ohio.
Fleagane is the son of the late John and Irene Fleagane of Cadiz. He was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses in the Ohio Valley and in Florida. He was also one of the owners of R & F Coal Co., Cadiz.
Mrs. Fleagane was involved in the businesses with her husband in Ohio and Florida. They were also involved in church activities and politics in Florida.
The Fleaganes, originally from the Ohio Valley, lived in Bellaire, then moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where they lived for 20 years. They returned to the Ohio Valley and divide their time between Wheeling and Fort Lauderdale.
They are the parents of seven children: Dr. Jamie Fleagane, Tiffani Gianangeli and Heather Fleagane of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Holly Ward of Fort Lauderdale and Dr. Kristy Fleagane of Columbus; Misty Fleagane and an infant son, James John Fleagane, are deceased. They have seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The weekend prior to their golden wedding anniversary, the Fleaganes celebrated their anniversary with their children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter and several friends at the Ritz Carlton in Fort Lauderdale. The weekend and a dinner celebration were given in their honor by their daughters.
The couple celebrated the actual weekend of their anniversary, March 31, at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, their honeymoon destination.
