CIHY, Edward A., 88, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in Country Club Retirement Campus, Bellaire, OH.
He was born October 22, 1923 in Wheeling, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Stelmach Cihy.
He was a former employee of the city of Wheeling Water Dept., a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, John, Frank and Charles Cihy; three sisters, Sophia Marchlenski, Sr. Mary Anthony Cihy and Helen Finney.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rosemary Ryan Cihy; three children, Edward J. (Linda) Cihy of Wheeling, Mark A. (Denise) Cihy of Ona, WV, and M. Michelle (Jack) Wendell of Columbus, OH; and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Adam (Tiffany), Andrew, Alex and Penelope.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Frank O'Kruta as celebrant.
Interment with military services in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
