HUNTER, Sister Mary Alvin, CDP of McCandless Township, Pa., died Saturday, April 14, 2012.

She entered religious life from St. Alphonsus Parish Wheeling, WV in 1937. She served in the following parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh: St. Cecilia's - Rochester, St. Mary's - Sharpsburg, St. Alphonsus - Springdale, St. Anne's - Castle Shannon, St. Mary's- Ford City, Providence Heights Alpha School.

Sr. Mary Alvin was a teacher, choir director and musician. She gave private music lesson to children and adults, directed bell choir, and was president and member of the Pittsburgh Piano Teacher Association (PPTA) for many years.

Survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and 1,000 Sisters of Divine Providence and Associates throughout the world. Preceded in death by parents, Mary Bernhart and John Hunter; and two brothers, Ralph and Alvin.

Services for Sister Mary Alvin were held in Pittsburgh. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Divine Providence Ministries Fund, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101.
