Virginia Snedeker

SNEDEKER, Virginia, age 99, of Grandview Road, Glen Dale, WV, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 30, 1912 in Moundsville, WV the daughter of the late Jesse S. and Ethel Bonar Edwards.

Virginia was a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Moundsville and was the oldest living member in years at the church. She served the church in many capacities; she led the Jr. Choir for over 30 years, served as the Primary Superintendent of Sunday School for 30 years, a member of the Esther Circle, and Lead Chairperson of the Dining Room Committee for many years.

She was also a member D.A.R. and Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star No. 86 in Moundsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph F. Snedeker and a son-in-law, Robert O. Higham.

Survivors include her daughter, Oneita Higham of Pittsburgh, PA; several cousins including, Chester M. Bonar of Dallas, TX and Robert Dobbs of Gonzales, LA; and best friends, Catherine and Bill Whorton and their children, Colleen McKinnie and Curt Whorton and their family.

Family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville. Family will also receive friends on Saturday from 10 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1601 First Street, Moundsville with Rev. Michael Brown officiating.

Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church- Kitchen or Capital Improvements Fund.
