WHEELING - Early voting concluded Saturday for the primary election set for Tuesday in West Virginia.
Local counties reported the following turnout numbers as the 5 p.m. close of early voting came Saturday:.
This includes 10,701 Democrats; 3,815 Republicans; 10 Mountain Party members and 2,931 with no party affiliation. Another 147 in the county belong to smaller political parties recorded as "other."
West Virginia has 1,226,545 registered voters, the Secretary of State's office reports. Democrats account for 640,888 of the total; and Republicans, 352,304. Another 210,562 are registered voters in West Virginia with no party affiliation.
There are 1,286 Mountain Party members in the state, making up 0.1 percent of voters. Another 21,505 voters are registered with other political parties, and they represent 1.75 percent of the electorate.
