Robert McDonough

McDONOUGH, Robert R., Sr., 77, of Wheeling W.Va., died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital.

He was born July 30, 1934, in Wheeling, W. Va., a son to the late Thomas and Minetta (Miller) McDonough.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheeling. He was a graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School and West Virginia University. He was a retired concrete products salesman for the tri-state area and served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas, and J.F. McDonough; and two sisters, Mary Mathison, and Eileen Mathot.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sylvia (Tatar) McDonough; two sons, Robert Jr. (Tracy) McDonough, and Thomas McDonough; four grandsons, Luke, Zachary, Shane, and Matthew McDonough; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheeling with the Rev. William K. Matheny Jr. as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
