2 dead, 3 hurt in central Ohio intersection crash

August 20, 2014
Associated Press

DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol says a tractor-trailer approaching a central Ohio intersection struck a stopped SUV and triggered a four-vehicle crash that killed two people and injured three more.

Patrol Sgt. Ty Skaggs says the southbound tractor-trailer rear-ended one SUV and pushed it into a second one around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on U.S Route 23 in northern Delaware County. Skaggs says the vehicles slid into the intersection, where at least one collided with an eastbound pickup truck.

A man and woman in the first SUV were killed. The drivers of the pickup truck and second SUV suffered less serious injuries. A woman riding in the pickup was flown to a hospital.

Skaggs says the tractor-trailer driver wasn't hurt and was in custody as authorities anticipated charges related to the deaths.
