MedExpress Urgent Care of Wheeling has selected Cory's Kidz as beneficiary of a $5,000 donation. This donation is being made as part of a company-wide "Random Acts of Kindness" contest.
MedExpress centers across the country competed for the chance to make a donation to a local organization of their choice.
To engage employees in Random Acts of Kindness Week, MedExpress challenged all 77 of its centers to commit as many acts of kindness as possible. The acts were recorded on strips of paper and linked together to create a chain of good deeds for the week. The Wheeling MedExpress center won with a total of 810 paper chain links, and chose Cory's Kidz to donate their winnings to.
Cory's Kidz is a program that provides the Wheeling community with an opportunity to make a difference to children who are in need. Volunteers can sponsor a child, donate money, school supplies or toys during the Back to School and Christmas programs. Bill and Cathy Kalisz coordinate the organization in memory of their son Cory.
"Cory's Kidz is a wonderful organization that works year-round to help kids in the Wheeling community," said Julianne Szymialis, MedExpress Radiologic Technologist and Cory's Kidz volunteer. "Being able to make a donation to these kids is an amazing experience because we know that we are helping them to have a better life."
A check presentation took place at the Wheeling MedExpress.
"Cory's Kidz expresses our sincere appreciation for the generous donation received from MedExpress. The donation will be used to enhance the lives of children who are less fortunate," said Becky Rodocker, executive director of Cory's Kidz and The Soup Kitchen. "Currently, we have over 180 children on our list. Thank you for helping us to make a difference in the lives of the children in our community."
