Flags a Display Of Local Patriotism

May 22, 2012
The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

Members of veterans' organizations are well known for displays of patriotism. Often they pitch in to help their communities display the same pride in being Americans. On some holidays, the veterans use their own time and money to decorate the graves of fallen comrades-in-arms.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4811 in Yorkville has done just that. Members have donated 40 American flags to the village of Tiltonsville.

No doubt the new flags will make an inspiring display this Memorial Day, and for many years to come.

During a recent council meeting, village officials formally thanked the VFW for the donation. No doubt many Tiltonsville residents share that sense of gratitude - for the veterans' service, as well as for the donation of flags.
