COOK, Karen L. Platt, 63, of Wheeling, WV, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 in OVMC.
She was born August 10, 1948 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late James and Evelyn Reinhardt Riggs.
Karen was a former employee of Ohio County Schools, and a retired employee of the WV Dept. of Health and Human Services.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Platt Sr.; and a son-in-law, Billy Ray Hibbs Jr.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Cook; four children, John Stevens of Wheeling, Jack (Sue) Stevens of Smithtown, N.Y, Jeanine (Michael) Cook of Wheeling, Jennifer Christianson of Wheeling; one brother, Jim (Rose) Riggs of Wheeling; one sister, Kathy (Richard) Strawn of Meadville, PA; and 13 grandchildren.
"Karen was the strength her family relied on and the glue that kept the bond between them strong.
She will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts and souls of all who knew and loved her."
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 with Rev. Dan Cook officiating.
Interment in Stone Church Cemetery, Wheeling.
