RENSHAW, Alfred J. Sr, 82, of Boggs Run, Benwood, WV, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 31, 1929 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Charles W. and Sarah Reilly Renshaw.
He was a former employee of Ohio-Ferro Alloy, Powhattan Point, OH, a retired employee of Saturn Bronze, McMechen, WV, a member of St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, Oglebay Park Golf Club, 30 year member of the God's Children of Love Prayer Group, former member of the Moundsville Country Club, a Navy and Marine veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Michael Patrick Renshaw, five sisters, Bernadine Gates, Isabelle Norman, Margaret Mohas, Edna Matheny and Jackie Bennington, three brothers, James, Charles and Owen Renshaw.
Surviving is his wife, Kathryn (Katy Frazier) Renshaw, one son, Alfred J. Renshaw Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Benwood; three grand-daughters, Christina (Craig) DeBeni of Wichita, KS; Theresa (Tom) Dyer of Steilacoom, WA; Katrina (Josh) Pempek of Fairpoint, OH; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Haley Dyer, Jenica and Derrick DeBeni, Karis Ann Pempek, two sisters, Ruth Simmons of Pittsburgh, PA; Goldie Byard of McMechen; sisters-in-law, Julie Renshaw, Milly Kosky, Charlotte Dean and Sandy Rogers, a brother-in-law, George Frazier, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends received 12-9 p.m. Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, where Rosary Devotions will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, with Rev. Richard Shoda as celebrant.
Interment with Military Honors in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
