Saseen's Restaurant - a long-time fixture in Center Wheeling - has closed, but more Saseen products soon could be coming to local supermarkets.
The restaurant first opened in 1946 and was closed Thursday, said owner Mark Saseen.
"All I can say now is we are closed and the building is for sale," said Saseen. "We are moving on with our other ventures and opportunities. We would like to thank our patrons for their patronage for many years. But we have other businesses, and we are concentrating our efforts there."
He noted Saseen's Salad Dressing LLC is looking to expand to other states and add more products to its line of condiments. Saseen's Salad Dressing is available in local markets, and Saseen said more products could be forthcoming but "are not out yet."
Plans still are being finalized, he added.
As for ending the restaurant business, Saseen had little to say.
"It is what it is," he said. "We're moving on to better ventures."
Saseen's closing came on the same day that another local business, Hoss's Steak and Sea Restaurant, closed its doors.
MedExpress is seeking to locate a clinic at the Hoss's property, but both MedExpress and Hoss's management said no deal has been reached.
