Donald and Jean Donatelli of Quaker City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 16.
They were united in marriage June 16, 1962 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Pittsburgh.
Jean Ranker Donatelli was a mortgage banker in Steubenville when they lived in Wintersville. She and her husband worked for Kamm Tours in Cambridge for 20 years as tour directors.
She is a certified cruise consultant. They work for Cruises Only as agents.
They are active members of St. Mary's Church, Temperanceville.
Donatelli has been a supervisor at Rolling Hills Local School District for 16 years, working as test coordinator through Ohio Valley Educational Services. He was superintendent of Noble Local School District for five years; principal at Toronto High School for 13 years; a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Steubenville High School for 13 years and a teacher and coach at East Liverpool for two years. He was president of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference for two years.
He is a graduate of Florida State University and West Virginia University. He is a member of Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers.
He played football for Florida State from 1958-61 and played for the Houston Oilers, Edmonton Eskimos and Wheeling Ironmen until 1969. He was inducted into the Minor Football Hall of Fame in 1997 and has a plaque at the Sen. John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh.
They have two children. The family includes Shari Dillon and her husband, James, of Cranberry Township, Pa., and Mark and his wife, Cathy, of Hilliard, Ohio. They have five grandchildren.
The family is planning a week's vacation in Ocean City to celebrate their anniversary.
