WHEELING - The parishioners of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church are hosting their 12th Annual Grecian Food Festival July 5-8 at the Hellenic Center, 2215 Chapline St. in Wheeling, with the Community of St. John the Divine as host.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Thursday, July 5 through Saturday, July 7, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8.
Since 2000, the community of St. John the Divine has hosted a multi-day Grecian Food Festival. Each year, the committee tries to provide something new for their faithful patrons and this year is no exception.
In addition to live authentic Greek music provided by Soteri and his orchestra on Friday and Saturday nights and the performances of the Agape dancers, there will be entertainment provided by local talent on Thursday night. Festival goers will find more entertainment for the whole family this year as Centre Market will be sponsoring amusements, trolley rides, shows and much more Friday and Saturday.
There will also be free parking available at the Ohio Valley Medical Center garage.
It is all about the food. In addition to outdoor casual dining, full dinner entrees are available in the Hellenic Center Hall. The choices are chicken, sausage, lamb, pork kabobs or fish. Also available is an a la carte menu and a wide selection of homemade Greek pastries. Only food items authentic to the Greek culture are being offered.
