WHEELING - The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer program announced the addition of 12 student-athletes to the 2012-2013 roster.
"We are very excited about the 2012 season," head coach Carrie Hanna said. "Our coaching staff has worked incredibly hard to develop our returning players and recruit new players who will be able to take our program back to the top of the conference.
"It's always our goal to stay true to our program's winning tradition of excellence, earn the WVIAC Championship Title and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Thanks to the support of our university's administration, the diligent efforts of a consistent coaching staff, and talented, loyal student-athletes. I believe we will achieve our season goals."
The 2012 recruiting class consists of 11 student-athletes from the tri-state area (Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia) and one from Indiana.
Jesuit's first signee is a Pittsburgh, Pa. product, Kylee Macura. The Valley High School standout is a 2-time All-Section defender.
Carley Kordas, also from Pittsburgh, Pa., is a 2-Time All-Section and First Team All-WPIAL goalkeeper from Ambridge High School.
Aubrey Hutchinson is a 4-year letter winner, All-Section and All-WPIAL selection from Pittsburgh, Pa. She finished her career at Beaver Area High School with 63 goals and 89 assists.
The Cardinals added five players from the Buckeye State beginning with defender/midfielder Kristin Eaton. The Riverview High School standout is a 2-time All-Ohio selection.
Holly Kraus is a 4-time First Team All-County selection, 3-time First Team All-Conference selection and 2-time Second Team All-Greater Cleveland selection from Avon, Ohio. The Avon High School standout was a 4-time goalkeeper of the Year in Lorain County Ohio.
Katie Collins is a 2-time First Team All-League selection, 2-time First Team All-County, First Team All-Dayton, All-League Player of the Year and Second Team All-State selection from Greenon High School in Dayton, Ohio.
Jillian Mesaros is a 3-time All-Southwest Conference selection, First Team, Second Team and Honorable mention, from Olmstead Falls High School in Ohio.
Morgan Headings was a 4 year varsity starter and Defensive Player of The Year for Sidney High School in Ohio. Jesuit also secured in-state player as Maria Tennant a 2-time first team All-OVAC, 3-time All-West Virginia Honorable Mention from John Marshall High School chose the Cardinals.
Taylor Gianangeli was a 2011 First Team OVAC selection, First team All-State and West Virginia Goalkeeper of the Year at Brooke High School.
Whitney Workman is an NCAC First Team All-Conference and NCAC Second Team All-Conference selection from Preston High School in West Virginia.
Rounding out the incoming class was Melinda Earnest from Bishop Dwenger High School. She is a 4-time letter winner, All-State Honorable Mention and a 3-year Olympic Development Program player in her home state of Indiana.
"Our returning players have developed and matured incredibly," said Hanna. "They are ready to win and do what it takes for our team's success."
"As far as our 2012 freshmen class, we haven't had this caliber of talent concentrated in one class since 2002 when we first qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament as my first year as head coach. If history repeats itself, then it should be an exciting season!"
