BRANNAN, Genevieve Margaret Furbee, passed away on July 10, 2012. Formerly of the Wheeling area she was 95 years of age.
Born September 9, 1916 to Caleb and Estella Furbee in Klee, OH.
Genevieve and her family moved to McMechen, WVa.
Genevieve married James Brannan on November 5, 1938. In 1946 they moved to Cleveland OH, where they raised four children.
She worked as an automobile insurance underwriter for Continental Insurance for 25 years until her retirement in 1978. After the passing of her husband, James in 1983, Genevieve moved to Stone Mountain, GA and then Decatur, where she lived her remaining days closer to her family.
During WW2 she was a Red Cross and Civil Defense volunteer. Genevieve was an avid reader, especially of romance and mystery novels. She also loved to embroider for her family and taught herself to play the piano.
She is survived by her children, Karen Brannan and James Michael Brannan of Atlanta GA, Patricia Brannan Cuthbertson and her husband, John Cuthbertson of Camarillo CA;. grandchildren, Scott Brannan of Atlanta GA; Traci Brannan McKinley and her husband, David McKinley of Cummings; Christopher Brannan and his wife, Jennifer Navarrete Brannan of Roswell; and Andrew Cuthbertson and Brandon Cuthbertson of Camarillo CA. She is also survived by nieces, Janet Ward and Twila Fusco of the Wheeling area .
Genevieve also was blessed with six great grandchildren: Taryn, Sean, and Colin Brannan, Patricia and Shelby McKinley and Gabriella Brannan.
She was preceded in death by Caleb and Estella Furbee her parents, her husband, James Brannan, her sister, Virginia Freeman: her brother, Earl Furbee, her son, Robert Brannan and his wife, Nancy Brannan.
Family and friends are invited to attended a graveside service on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery with the Pastor Rodney Hubbs officiating.
