Traffic will be restricted in Wheeling today for the Faith in Action Caregivers Triathlon and Duathlon.
Motorists should expect restrictions on the following roads from 7-11:30 a.m.: Currie Drive, Washington Avenue from the main entrance of Wheeling Jesuit University to National Road, Alice Avenue, Valley View Avenue, Betty Street, McClurg Street, Jefferson Avenue, Frances Avenue, National Road from Chapline Street to Junior Avenue, Junior Avenue from National Road to Community Drive, Community Drive; the intersection of Washington Avenue and Mount de Chantal Road; 17th Street from the trail to Chapline Street; Chapline Street from 17th street to National Road.
Motorists should watch for runners along Washington Avenue, Alice, Valley View, Betty McClurg, Jefferson and Frances, and bicyclists along Washington Avenue and the other roads mentioned.
Faith in Action Caregivers wants the public to be aware that these road restrictions are different from previous race courses. Volunteers, in cooperation with the Wheeling Police Department and the Wheeling Fire Department, will be providing coverage for cyclists and runners throughout the course. Motorists should yield to the directions provided by these volunteers and officers.
